BlueBay Computing Ltd.

Sony BMG contracted BlueBay Computing Ltd to assist them with the upgrade of their proprietary classic ASP intranet site to a more scalable and expandable C# application.

The new system used C# Windows Forms and .NET REMOTING to access a SQL Server data tier. Updates to the application were automatically downloaded to the users PC using ClickOnce with automatic updates.

The UI and middle tiers were developed using an n-tier CSLA (Component-based Scalable Logical Architecture) design. This framework enables developers to utilise object-oriented design techniques to reduce the cost of building and maintaining applications.

A large part of this project was the capture of user requirements, and the translation of these user requirements into functional and technical specifications. This capture was carried out by observation of the end users as they carried out routine tasks with the existing system, as well as workshops and design meetings with all interested parties.
